(From the source site

With the first story arch of Cursed By Dice nicely wrapped up, it is time to get to know where the characters came from.

The character creation process in this system is remarkable.

Cursed By Dice Episode Three Now Up

(I’m just going to copy/paste from the Cursed By Dice site, head on over for some behind the scenes stuff)

Episode three is live!  This is the first episode to come out after our initial launch and it is a good one.  Shadow River’s zombie plague is still a problem.  Billie Ron Hubbard is still annoying.  Everyone still ignores their fate points.  It’s business as usual here on Cursed By Dice.

Come check out Episode 3 below: here:

I’m super excited about this project.  Lots of characters, monsters, puzzles and fun to take part in.

Give it a listen to find out how we’re planning on making the whole thing as interactive as can be and please subscribe and review if you can.  These first few after launch are critical and I am in dire need of your help to get this out there and hopefully make a few people laugh.

Thanks for being awesome!

Cursed by Dice a new RPG Podcast

A brand spankin’ new podcast for the story telling, group game playing folks out there.  Cursed by Dice uses the Fate Core system to (poorly) help heroes solve puzzles, battle foes and try their best to start a VW bus.

I want to make the whole thing as interactive as a podcast can be, so I’m asking for listener help in suggesting items, names, places and all the 80s references you can provide and we’ll work them into the story.  Send a tweet, a comment, an email, choose your method of communication and we’re there.  Check out the site for full details on contacting the show.

For those not using iTunes as their preferred podcast source, the hosted version can be found here: or add it the RSS to your podcast player with this link:

I’m super excited for this one and hope you like it too. Putting together a fun story alongside some of my favorite people has been tremendous fun and they are so very entertaining.  If you do like the show, a review and/or sharing the show with your friends, family, neighbors, or even your enemies is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading and listening!

Now Hear This! Ugh, pun titles are the worst but I’m addicted to them.

You should head over to No Extra Words and listen to part one of the Christmas Serial anyway, but the episode ends with my short story Garrick and the Dare.

I was really excited to submit the short to the podcast.  There’s always a rush when hitting “send” on something like this.  I was more excited when the wonderful editor, Kris, accepted the submission and probably read that email three or four times. Hearing the story today was really cool. Hearing someone else read the tale, hearing how another person interprets the pacing and adds emphasis.  For the reals, the whole experience has been amazing and one day I hope to write something else to submit (and you should too! starting in January. Subscribe to the blog for updates).

Better than all of that though was part one of the Christmas serial.  There’s whimsy and wonder, humor and one character in particular that I basically met in real life today (and subsequently laughed at during our phone conversation and I only sort of feel bad about that).  I am very much looking forward to part two.  Go listen!

Having Garrick and the Dare after it feels like being a TV show debuting after the Super Bowl in the best possible way.

So click here (or the multiple links above) and listen to part one of the Christmas serial and then hear Garrick and the Dare.  It is well worth your time.

You can also read the story by clicking these words that are slightly different in color than the rest of the page.

Now In Stereo

There are a number of ways I should spend my lunch hour.  Could clean the house.  Do the dishes.  Vacuum, I guess?  I did none of that last week.  Instead, I made this:

My big regret is not calling it ShawnSaysStuff.
