Low Hopper Escapes His Past, Writes a Song About It

Low Hopper tackled many subjects in his career.  The storytelling tradition of his bardic forefathers continues in this tale of escaping our own histories only to have them come right back to us.

Echoing my Father’s Words

I spent the first half of my life
just echoing my father’s words
I spent the first half of my life
just mimicking my momma’s glare
It was the only
It was the only way I knew

You came into my life and
took me by the hand
Said come and make a home with me
We settled and now we’re free
But you know what they say
They say you can’t escape your past

I’m an 18th-century pirate kid
It’s the skull and bones for me
You can see my modern techie side
But I hear the call of the see
It was the only
It was the only way I knew

I take the dog for walk the plank
And raid passing vehicles
It takes your patience and your love
to keep in my place
I will always be thankful
Thankful for your being

I learned to code
I learned to chill
I learned the modern world, it’s true.
My pirate soul is calling out
To ride the waves again
Let’s plan a weekend
A weekend with the crew
