Cold Morning

The cool morning air felt like a punch to the face.

“Since when is it cold in the morning?” Rufus shouted, enraged by the passage of time.

He stood on his front stoop fumbling for his keys to lock his front door before venturing off to work.

It took a moment, but when he noticed the darkness surrounding him his displeasure grew.

“And when did we lose the sun at 7:00 in the morning, huh?” He mumbled curse words for a beat, before the key and door finally worked together.

“I cannot wait for spring,” he said, leaving the stoop.
