Behind the Gate

“You ready?”

“You know it.  Open it up!”

The two thieves readied to lift the gate of the garage.  Days ago a rumor found its way through their circle telling of fortune to be had.  Fast cars and expensive parts composed the awaiting bounty.  All they needed was to open the gate.

With a heave, the lid of the treasure chest rolled into its ceiling hold.  Light flooded out of the garage.

“Oh snap!” Shouted one thief.  “Run!” The other screeched.

They had no hope of escape.  Teeth and claw met them mid-flight.  The trap was set; the monster fed.
