Steampunk Weekend DIY

We will be on the road again this weekend heading to my side of the family’s big reunion.  I’m told there will be much fun and happiness plus some board games.  Really looking forward to it.

For those of you not driving this weekend, here are some crazy fun projects to consider.  This week we have a really cool watch (yes, watches can be cool), a room partition, one wicked cool pen and a lamp like none other.

Steampunk Wrist Watch
This project comes with tons of photos, but no direct instructions.  From what I can tell, it is a watch face strapped to a coat hangar bent to awesomeness, attached to some cloth so your wrist is not totally destroyed, and then bolted together.  Click the picture to head to the site for more photos.

Gear Room Divider
The big question of steampunk is not so much “Why?” but “Why not?!”

My wife showed me this, so I’m pretty sure we’re going to make it one day.  It seems like a lot of work for something that will be lost as soon as you set it down, or stop working the moment it is needed.

STEAMPEN IV (ворклог)

Box Lamp
Recall for a moment that scene in Pulp Fiction when the suitcase is opened and a light emits from the interior.  That is the only purpose for this box.  A prop in a steampunk reboot of Pulp Fiction.  Boxing without gloves, replace the heroin overdose with waaayyy too much absinthe, the basement scene probably goes unchanged.  That’s enough talk of Pulp Fiction for one Friday morning.

Happy weekend everybody!
